The date and time question is used when you want to capture a date and time. You can opt to show the date only or time only if required. Date and time question editor Question title: Each question must have a title. It’s a required field and will appear on the form as a label when the user fills in the question. Question code: Each question needs a unique code. One is generated by default when you start creating a new question, but you can overwrite this and give it a different code, if you prefer. The question code won’t appear on the form itself, but you can use it to search and filter questions when adding them. Question type: date and time Required: You need to specify whether the question is required or not. If you set a question as required, the user must provide an answer to it on the form to submit the form. However, the user can save the form as a draft without answering required questions. If you try to submit a form without answering all required questions, an error message will appear showing a list of questions that haven’t been answered. Question description: It’s optional whether you enter a description. The description is used as a tooltip on the form and adds an exclamation point beside the question. If the user clicks on the exclamation point, the description entered appears as a tooltip. Publish question as list field: Check this box to save the question to the SharePoint forms list. This allows you to report on the question from there. Display Format: you can choose between three different display formats:
  • Date and time: displays date and time, e.g. 01/01/2021 14:30
  • Date only: displays date only, e.g. 01/01/2021
  • Time only: displays time only, e.g. 14:30
Time format: you can choose between two different options for the time format: AM/PM: the time value will be displayed with AM or PM indicators, e.g. 03:00 AM or 03:00 PM 24H: the time value will be displayed without AM or PM indicators, but with 24 hour being used, e.g. 03:00 or 15:00 Default date settings: you can choose between four different date settings:
  • No default value: no default value is set, users will need to provide a date or have the date set via a business rule
  • Today: the default value will be set to the current date the question was activated (step starting)
  • Today + n days: the default value will be set the current date the question was activated, plus a set number of days entered
  • Fixed date: the default value will be set to a fixed date as entered into the question editor when creating the question
Default date: depending on the selection made for default date setting, a default value for the question can be set Time interval (minutes): when you’re including the time in the date and time question, there’s a clock icon to select the time. By default, you can select times in 30 minute intervals. This option allows you to select the time interval displayed, from 1 to 60 minutes. Min time and Max time: when Display Format is set to Time only, you can set the earliest and latest times a user can select on the form. Textbox width: sets the width of the answer field on the form. Show question title on form: Check this option if you want to display the question’s title to the left of the question’s input field. If you uncheck this option, the input field moves to the left and appears under the other questions/question titles. Render, but hide question on form: If you check this option, the question will behave as if displayed by default. Default value, publishing, and calculation will apply despite the question not being displayed on the form.
