Work Items consists of three key features:
  • Alerts
  • Teams
  • Reassign work items
Work items let you automate the process of ensuring people aren’t assigned too many items, by reassigning work items and sending alerts (recurring email reminders) to users. For example, you set up SharePoint groups (teams), then set an individual capacity (how many forms they can be assigned) for the users within that group. You add alert rules to send a reminder to the assignee of a form that hasn’t been completed and needs attention. If it still hasn’t been completed after some time, the form is automatically reassigned to the next member of the team (SharePoint group) with the most availability (highest remaining capacity).
