You can use filters and sorting to reduce the amount of data displayed in a chart or data table, or to change the order in which the data is shown. Data in charts and data tables is usually displayed in ascending alphabetical order, but you can switch it to descending order. If a data table is used, dashboard users can temporarily sort any column into the order they want to view the data. These sorting choices revert to the settings specified in the sorting menu when the user closes the dashboard. Usually, when a chart or data table is created, no filters exist yet. Chart designers can, however, choose to apply a chart filter to reduce the amount of data displayed, or set up a category object that allows users to filter the data based on the information they want to view.
